Welcome to Project Better Place
Welcome to the Project Better Place Community. Itâ??s a pivotal time in the way we think about transportation and its effect on our environment. With the convergence of new and existing technologies we can have an immediate impact on the world by reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
I look forward to hearing your ideas and feedback as we begin this new era together.

This forum is a mess!
This forum needs some serious restructuring and cleening up. It's just a long list of mostly dead topics now without any system. What it takes is a moderator that organises threads by subject and deletes old threads that nolonger attract any attention. In it's current structure (or rather lack there off) this forum is becoming inaccessable for people who are interested in specific topics.
Urban participation to islands concept
Hi Shai:
I am curious about how you express the growth of the network from a so called "island". Can they be a major city where commuters drive an average of 20 miles a day and where most of the pollution is generated from? If yes, going toward your point on the "mobile phone" concept, can local car dealerships be the first to establish that network within their own infrastructure? For instance, in Western Europe, you can see a lot of car dealership sparsed across town. They are not located in group as we can see them in the US. The odds of hitting a location within a few miles if very high. Dealerships could participate into that growth directly as they provide also a whole service solution to the user.

How do you invest in Proj Better Place (PBP)
Hi,
Since I read the article on PBP in eWeek earlier this week, been interested in reading about it. Today took a look at the website. I have been following news pieces on Shai when he was with SAP since the last couple of years...been wanting to get into SAP consulting...haven't yet though.
Ok...how do we go about investing in PBP?...
Project Better Place
I am following with great interest the Project Better Place since your first public announcement in October this year and I confess I was and I still am intrigued by the whole idea.
I listened carefully and tried to be as realistic as possible in assessing the chances of success of such a bold project. I heard what you said about this not being a science project and I read the opinions of the skeptics and I wonder.
I see it as a great business opportunity that shouldn't be missed. However, this is a much larger enterprise than many people can think of comprising a global scale cooperation of battery manufacturers, vehicle manufacturers, electric utilities, international safety agencies, local and government administrators and regulators, banks etc.
Although the $200.000.000 investment for this startup is impressive and probably without precedent it is only a modest beginning for such an ambitious project.
However the automobile industry is one of the less prone industries to jump on a swift change of direction, not taking into account the oil industry and I can see the difficulties this enterprise is going to face. If you could manage to tap the huge financial reserves of the oil industry for this project its chances of success would be definitely higher.
Regarding the ecological aspects of the project I confess I am not so optimistic. You mention Israel as a great transportation island, but electricity generation in Israel is dominated mainly by coal (70%) and oil and natural gas (30%). Renewable energy in Israel is practically zero and the Israel Electric Corporation will take care of its own interests, clean energy not being one of them.
If you could convince me I was wrong I would happily applaud you.
Denmark is a more likely place to start, from an ecological point of view, provided the Danes are ready to share your vision.
I wish I could be of any help in promoting this project.
I sincerely wish that in 5 years from now the Project Better Place will be a prosperous and sound business
Welcome to Project Better Place
Great idea, I'm sure this business model will morph along with the need. A great place to start.

Gear up the servers now while you have the time.....things are going to get REAL busy!!
Welcome to Project Better Place
Shai,
I love the concept and the vision. In fact, I feel I can contribute to its success, and I have been trying to reach you. Timing is very important.
I contacted one of your PR people; Mr. Rory Mackin. I am quite anxious to speak with you. He said he forwarded a message. I just became aware of the forum here, so I thought I would try this too.
Since you are the admin of this forum, I assume you would be able to contact me by email without my having to publish the address here.
I look forward to speaking with you.

Better Places
We are looking at starting with what we called "Transportation Islands" - places where cars are either physically or practically bound to a single region that is either smalland large. The idea is to grow from an island to its logical extension.
In a sense it is easy to prove the model on Hong-Kong and grow to China, or start in Hawaii and grow to the US, Israel is a gret transportation island and to a certain degree so is Denmark's Zeeland state for northern Europe
Impact on the Third World
Has there been any thoughts too countries and this may be a contrarian viewpoint, in the middle east or on the african continent, i.e, South Africa?[/b]
Welcome to Project Better Place
Congratulations and good luck! I look forward to seeing this company grow. This is the largest idea to permanently alter the infrastructure of commuting in this country since the first highways themselves were built.
Where will the HQ be?
